Cooperation of the Italian Carabinieri with Uganda Police Force

Following the Memorandum of Understanding signed by the Commander General of the Carabinieri and the Inspector General of Police in May 2015, the Italian Carabinieri have organized a series of training and technical cooperation activities in Uganda.

A delegation of the Carabinieri was in Masindi (where UPF has its major training facility) from August 20 to September 7 to deliver two training courses, respectively on:

• environmental crime, anti-poaching and fight against international trafficking of endangered species (30 UPF officials and 20 Rangers from Uganda’s national parks participating);

• counter-terrorism (19 UPF CT officials and 12 UPF instructors participating).

The 20 best trainees (10 for each course) will be invited to attend further training in Italy in the premises of the Arma dei Carabinieri.

On Friday September 7 the Italian Ambassador, H.E. Domenico Fornara, and the Ugandan Minister of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities, Hon. Prof. Ephraim Kamuntu, hosted an event at Sheraton Kampala Hotel to present the cooperation activities of the Carabinieri with Uganda Police Force.
