Christmas message from Ambassador Mazzanti

My Fellow Italians and dear Friends of Italy,
I greet you warmly at this special time of the year.
Christmas has always been an important occasion for families to reflect together on the year that has passed as we commemorate our roots. But also, as we look ahead to the promise for a better year full of hope and new beginnings.
As 2020 draws to an end, we can look retrospectively on a time that has changed life as we know it. We were hit by a pandemic, COVID-19, a virus that has claimed and continues to claim lives across the globe. But while the pandemic caused a great deal of damage to our Country, we showed the world our resilience and determination and the Italian values that are rooted in our deep faith, sense of hope and optimism, genuine concern for others, and solidarity with family and friends.
I wish to take this opportunity to express my sincere appreciation to all of you, my fellow Italians across Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi, for your unwavering patriotism and for your invaluable contribution to our Country.
This Christmas, it is good to remember those at the frontline of the battle against this virus who continue to risk their lives everyday in order to keep us safe. Their dedication as well as your commitment to following all the guidelines that have been set by the respective Ministries of Health, gives me hope that we will rise to any challenge and emerge stronger and wiser.
May the true meaning of Christmas remain in our hearts throughout this festive season and always.
On behalf of my family and the entire staff at the Embassy, I wish you a Merry Christmas and a prosperous 2021.
