AICS finances new projects in Uganda and Burundi

On 5 June, the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) approved the following two initiatives concerning Uganda and Burundi under the OSC 2018 call for proposals:
ForeSeeing Inclusion – Visual Health and Disability Mainstreaming in Northern Uganda presented by the NGO “CBM (Christian Blind Mission) Together we can do more”. The project received funding worth 1,398,454 euros. CBM has been working for decades in Uganda trying to implement practices to prevent blindness, improving health facilities and supporting people with disabilities to to access education and health care / rehabilitation within their community;
Access to renewable energies in the off-grid areas of Burundi as a driving force for socio-economic development   elaborated by the Institute for University Cooperation Onlus ICU. The project received funding of 1,400,000.00 euros. The main objective is to contribute to the improvement of the living conditions of the rural population of Burundi through access to higher quality energy services, in partnership with the Burundi Agency for Rural Electrification (ABER). It is planned to increase energy production through the use of renewable resources (hydroelectric and solar), with the rehabilitation of distribution lines and strengthening of local capacities.
