The 2018 Italian National Day was celebrated on Friday June 1st at the Residence of the Italian Ambassador, H.E. Domenico Fornara.
Over 700 guests have attended. The Embassy thanks the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uganda, Hon. Sam Kahamba Kutesa, who participated in his quality of Guest of Honor.
During the function a selection of Italian food and wine was served. Stands were organized where the Italian Agencies for Cooperation (AICS) and International Trade (ITA/ICE), Italian NGOs, the Business Club Italia (BCI) and the Cultural Association of Italians in Uganda (CAIU) showcased their activities.
A photographic exhibition on the expeditions of the Duke of Abruzzi, the first to climb the Rwenzori peaks, was also displayed.
This year’s Festa della Repubblica had a special momentum as we were also celebrating the 70th anniversary of the entry into force of the Italian Constitution. The text, written in the aftermath of the tragedies of fascism and World War II, guides the Italian Republic since 1948.
Images of Italy, of Italian international action and of the activities of the “Sistema Italia” in Uganda were projected on a wide screen.
Finally the whole night was accompanied by music from dj Rachel.
